Skirtboard: It's a Tough & Durable Elastomer! Robert Morris 04/08/05 Rubber-Cal Inc.
Often, customers just don't need a full 36" wide piece of rubber. Especially for many abrasion resistant applications (like the bottom of hangar doors), the standard widths available for most rubber sheets are not suitable for the fairly limited area, which must be covered with a rubber product. For heavy wear and tear applications, Skirtboard rubber is an ideal choice. By combining the abrasion resistance of SBR with the flexibility of gum rubber, a balance is achieved which makes Skirtboard rubber suitable for many applications where both pliability and strength are important. And since this type of rubber is sold in a broader variety of widths (down to 4"), it can be used for applications where cutting a larger roll to size would be costly and time consuming. These applications include street sweepers (which use rubber flaps) and snowplows (which can be equipped with rubber blades for plowing areas such as airport runways). For skirting applications, or just about any application, which requires limited widths of an elastomer, Skirtboard is a good choice to fulfill your requirements.
