As a purveyor of industrial and commercial sheet goods, we understand the need to provide our clients with the most suitable sheet rubber material for their application.  We also recognize that along with recommending material for the exposures that you anticipate (UV, ozone, chemical, etc.) it is important to understand how the material is being used in your application, which is why we offer CI cloth inserted or corded sheet rubber products.

Rubber can easily be drilled and bolted & is easy enough to slit simply using a sharp utility knife.  However, if the sheet rubber is stretched taut, rubber around the bolted area is in danger of stretching and therefore tearing.  If you need to secure a section of rubber by bolting or another means of mechanical fastening, you may want to consider using a CI Sheet material. Cloth Inserted rubber is commonly called corded rubber or reinforced rubber.

CI Sheet is a sheet rubber that has one or more layers of fabric inserted into the rubber.  Per 1/16" gauge there is one layer of fabric.  Adding a fabric insert makes rubber materials more stable in regards to mechanical fastening.

CI sheet is readily available in SBR form.  Other rubber compounds are also available with cloth inserts (EPDM, Nitrile, Neoprene).  By providing these rubber products in a cloth inserted sheet form, we are better able to help our clients purchase precisely what they are looking for and a product which is going to have the longest life span (saving them money in the long run).

For assistance determining which sheet rubber product is best suited for your application, or to find out the resistance level of our product to specific chemical exposures, please contact a Rubber-Cal product specialist at (800) 370-9152 or at
info@rubbercal.com.
