Diamond Plate Mats

Diamond plating is a popular floor choice for industrial settings, but most people do not realize how versatile this classic design truly is. Traditional diamond plate floors are made from metal, but in today’s market you can find diamond plate mats and flooring that are made from more resilient materials such as rubber, vinyl, or even plastic. Rubber diamond plate matting in particular offers several unique benefits that simply cannot be found in aluminum or steel. Rubber diamond plate mats combine the practical design of traditional diamond plating with the highly durable and protective capabilities provided by rubber to offer consumers a textured flooring material that is unlike any other.

Diamond plate floors originated in the early 1900s as an industrial safety product. Originally made from steel, this rigid industrial flooring introduced what has become an iconic surface texture of small, symmetrical protrusions. Though diamond plating was designed to be a non-slip surface, it has also become a staple of many industrial and commercial settings for the iconic aesthetic the flooring creates. Diamond plate mats made from rubber and vinyl are relatively new products by comparison, and they have changed the industry by making the floor design both versatile and accessible. What once belonged exclusively to factories and garages is now a commonplace safety surface.

“Diamond Plate” Roll Rubber Matting

  • Quality protection at an affordable rate
  • Easiest to install when you use double-sided tape
  • Features a textured backside that grips base surfaces
  • Excellent for use as an equipment floor mat garage flooring, warehouse flooring, factory mats, kennel mats for dogs, waterproof flooring, gym mats, shop mat, and much more

Designed for Traction: From the very beginning, the diamond plate mats are designed with safety in mind. The diamond pattern on these mats helps produce traction for the feet walking around on it. More traction means a far lower likelihood of slipping and falling. Each raised line of the pattern has a way of “gripping” feet. Diamond plate floor mats will provide enough resistance on all sides of the feet so as to keep them secure and upright.

Excellent Protection: Base flooring can be very vulnerable. Wood and tile can be degraded over time due to a high volume of foot traffic and/or the continued presence of heavy equipment. When these diamond plate floor mats are in place, they absorb the shock and pressure of heavy weights. They take the full force while preventing the surface beneath them from feeling it. If your area contains heavy equipment, floor mat options such as the “Diamond Plate” is essential to have around.

Rubber diamond plate mats demonstrate many strengths over steel or metal flooring, but the most obvious is certainly the material’s resilience. Rubber is elastic by nature, allowing the floor mats to bend, flex, and cushion under pressure. Unlike the rigid and unforgiving surface of metal floors, rubber is able to absorb movement to lessen impacts and provide safety form falls. Depending of the specific variety of rubber used, diamond plate matting can also relieve stress for comfort and anti-fatigue qualities. The dense diamond plate mats can even provide insulation, maintaining a neutral temperature on the surface and creating warmth within a space. This of course is in major contrast with traditional diamond plate floors, with their cold metallic surfaces.

Rubber diamond plate mats are also an excellent way to protect sensitive sub-surfaces. Just as the dense rubber absorbs impacts, it can absorb abrasions, vibrations, and other potentially harmful movements. Classic flooring types such as concrete, tile, and hardwood are infamously sensitive, but diamond plate mats can help you extend the lifespan of your fragile flooring. Take your home garage, for example, with its cold concrete flooring. That concrete is likely to become stained, chipped, or cracked over time due to regular use. If you use your garage as a workspace, the flooring may take damage even faster than anticipated. Luckily, rubber is the ultimate floor protector! Rubber diamond plate matting can be installed over the concrete to separate your floors from potential abuse. The diamond plate mats act as a shield or a protective barrier so you will not have to face costly floor repairs in the future. Rubber mats are long-lasting, and they are easy to replace if the time ever comes. Even if the mats do happen to take damage, diamond plate matting is much more affordable than repairing or replacing a rigid floor!

Improved Traction: According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics U.S. Department of Labor, more than 2.9 million nonfatal injuries and illnesses in the workplace were reported for 2013. Be proactive and make sure your work place is prepared with the extra grip and traction this diamond-plate flooring provides. In addition to the high level of friction PVC offers, the diamond plate pattern on these commercial and industrial floor mats have been uniquely designed and placed to make sure your feet get enough friction to qualify this flooring as anti-slip.

Multiple Applications: Both durable and safe, this mat is a good fit for many facilities. They are most popular in gyms and industrial work places because of their anti-slip and ability to handle heavy foot traffic, but the number of places this flooring can work is endless. Some of the more popular uses for this protective flooring have been for auto shops, trailer mats, and airport runways.

Metal diamond plate floors were initially designed to enhance slip-resistance, but rubber’s surface traction puts metal to shame. It is no surprise that metals like steel and aluminum are slippery, and if they come wet they can be a serious hazard. The logic behind diamond plating comes from the thin protrusions across its surface. These protrusions provide additional points of contact for feet and furniture, helping the floor “push back” against any pressure. The diamond plated surface texture can also lock into the grooves of shoe soles, holding them in place to prevent slips. This feature of diamond plate matting is unique because it maintains traction under wet conditions. This is true for both metal and rubber diamond plate mats. What makes the rubber matting unique, however, is that rubber already provides a degree of natural slip-resistance.

Rubber is commonly used for non-slip mats and flooring because unlike other materials, is possesses a naturally high coefficient of friction. High frictional force means greater traction gain, and thus greater slip-prevention. This slip-prevention is maintained even in the presence of moisture to be the ultimate non-slip surface. Rubber’s inherent “grip” combined with diamond plating brings slip resistance to the max, making it the perfect safety matting for any type of application. Metal diamond plate floors may be the traditional option, but they rely too much on their surface texture to prevent slips. Because steel is so slippery, the risk of slipping is still high even with the diamond plate texture. Rubber diamond plate mats instead reduce that risk by providing multiple means of slip protection.

If safety wasn’t a good enough reason to invest in diamond plate mats, then the industrial aesthetic certainly is. Diamond plating has become an iconic appearance associated with industrial settings, particularly in the automotive and construction industries. Though diamond plate floors were once a unique part of factory settings, today their rubber equivalents can be found in fitness centers, home garages, and various commercial establishments. Because rubber is such a versatile and resilient material, diamond plate mats can be installed nearly anywhere to add a rugged industrial feel to the space. Metal diamond plating has become a thing of the past; with rubber diamond plate mats, you can bring that same aesthetic and slip-resistance to any location you like.
