Product Description
Cellular rubber is a type of rubber material that is formed when a foaming agent is introduced into rubber while it is being produced. The process results in a new elastomer which features an air-filled matrix within its body. This resulting rubber is ultimately more compressible than its traditional solid rubber counterparts, making it better suited to a whole range of different applications. This particular closed cell sponge rubber is a blend of different elastomer types. It is formed using SBR rubber and closed cell neoprene in its makeup. This process produces a new type of sponge rubber which is durable and affordable. The closed cell blend inherits some of the best traits of its parent materials in moderate levels, such as physical strength, oil resistance and outdoor capabilities. This product also features a pressure sensitive adhesive surface on one side. By peeling off the protective layer and making use of the attached adhesive, the rubber material can easily be installed and secured within any application. This eliminates the need for other costly or messy adhesives and makes the perfect clean installation possible. Closed cell blend is a black rubber which works well as a general-purpose elastomer.
Pressure Sensitive Adhesive: The adhesive-covered surface of the closed cell blend makes one of the easiest rubber products to install. Each sponge sheet features a white film on one side. This is a double-coated rubber base polyester film with adhesive underneath. After peeling off the film to reveal the sticky adhesive, the rubber can simply be pressed into position to secure it.
Moderate Weather Resistance: The closed cell blend inherits a good level of weather resistance from its combination of neoprene SBR. Each of these rubber types are made to withstand inclement weather and associated effects. This means that it can handle a moderate level of ozone, UV rays, moisture and more. Using this combination allows the sponge rubber to be employed in outdoor applications.
A Durable Sponge Rubber: As a direct benefit from the SBR rubber used to make it, this closed cell sponge rubber possesses a good degree of physical durability. SBR is popular for use in vehicle tires because it is known for its superior physical strength and resistance to abrasions. This allows tires to handle the roughest road conditions. Using SBR in closed cell blend gives it a higher level of physical abrasion resistance.
Resists Light Oil Contact: Thanks to the presence of closed cell neoprene rubber in this elastomer; it will be able to resist light to moderate amounts of oil. Neoprene is a synthetic rubber that is commonly used for oil-related applications. By itself, neoprene is very good at resisting the otherwise damaging effects of various oils and greases. In this blended cellular rubber, that quality is there but in a more moderate form.
