The cellular composition of this open cell rubber material is the secret behind its ability to compress. The cell structure is composed of tiny air pockets that have gaps in between them. When force is applied to the surface of the EPDM sponge, these air pockets will close in on themselves. The source of the pressure will also not face any resistance due to the soft nature of open cell sponge. The EPDM foam sheet will maintain its compressed form as long as the object applying the pressure remains.
Fast Recovery: The open cell EPDM has the ability to revert back to its original shape after compression. This silicone (50 durometer) is available for custom fabrication if needed. Due to it’s lower durometer rating, this silicone sheet material is easier to cut. Low Durometer Rubber: Durometer is the unit of measurement that is used to determine how flexible and resistant to physical indentation a particular rubber is. The higher the rating, the more physically durable the material will be. Since this commercial grade silicone rubber has a durometer of 50 Shore A, it is more on the flexible side. Silicone 50 durometer is the most popular of all silicones, due to its economical cost and availability in short lengths.

Soft and Elastic: Pure gum rubber is valued for being a softer, more elastic type of rubber. It has a low durometer rating of 35-45, meaning that while it is not a very hard material, it is very elastic. This high elasticity gives it a level of adaptability for various seal and gasket applications that is hard to beat. This flexible rubber material can be stretched further than other elastomers. It is the prime reason why natural gum rubber is used as squeegee blades, industrial skirting, and drum practice pads.
Non-Marking Rubber: A very useful characteristic of pure gum rubber is that it is non-marking. No matter what type of color variation it comes in, brown to light tan, a natural rubber product will not leave any stains or marks on the places where they are used. This feature is especially useful in applications like window cleaning.

A Durable Sponge Rubber: As a direct benefit from the SBR rubber used to make it, this closed cell sponge rubber possesses a good degree of physical durability. SBR is known for its superior physical strength and resistance to physical abrasions. It is the reason why SBR is so popular for use in vehicle tires, which are expected to endure harsh physical conditions on a daily basis. Although cellular rubber tends to be a softer material overall, especially when compared to its regular solid rubber counterparts, it is still durable enough to handle some moderate level physical abrasions.
Resists Light Oil Contact: Thanks to the presence of closed cell neoprene rubber in this elastomer; it will be able to resist light to moderate amounts of oil. Neoprene is a synthetic rubber that is commonly used for oil-related applications. By itself, neoprene is very good at resisting the otherwise damaging effects of various oils and greases. In this blended cellular rubber, that quality is there but in a more moderate form. It can handle light oil contact with ease, but it should be noted that it does not hold up very well against heavy oil contact.
Skirtboard – SBR Rubber – 70A – 1500 PSI

We offer gauges that range from 1/8” to 2” thick upon request. The thickness of a skirting rubber part can correlate with its durability and effectiveness. Therefore, the thicker the material, the more long-lasting the rubber part will be.
Meant for Tough Jobs: Skirtboard rubber is meant for tough jobs that involve a lot of physical abrasions. The SBR rubber used to make the material provides for the enhanced durability that makes it so popular. This thick rubber material is well suited for use as conveyor skirting, belt wipers, blast curtains, bumpers, and street sweeper and snowplow blades. All of these applications involve rough physical conditions that could damage machines. Great for Automotive Use: One simply has to consider the performance virtues of this thermoplastic material when considering a type of sheet rubber for use in automotive applications. It is already a physically durable material to begin with. However, this high quality synthetic rubber also features other characteristics that make it ideal for the harsh requirements of automotive use. Firstly, Santoprene sheets exhibit a great resistance to the oils and greases commonly found in automotive settings. Secondly, it has the ability to perform in temperatures that go up to 300° F. With these great characteristics, Santoprene rubber is meant for use in the auto industry.
Can Operate in Outdoor Conditions: The Santoprene thermoplastic elastomer is unique in the fact that it can function well in outdoor conditions. UV rays and ozone are a regular presence in the outdoors. They can often damage various other rubber products over time by causing cracks to form on the material surfaces. These Santoprene sheets will not suffer from that problem. This is largely due to the EPDM material used to make them. This quality synthetic rubber can be used in the outdoors fully exposed to UV rays and other weather conditions.

Low Durometer Silicone: With a durometer rating of 50 Shore A, this silicone elastomer favors physical flexibility over durability. It is meant to be used in applications that call for more pliability from the rubber parts used in them. Thanks to the low durometer rating, this commercial grade silicone is easier to cut, manipulate, and fabricate than those of a higher durometer.
Chemical Resistance: In addition to being able to resist extreme temperature conditions, this silicone sheet material has a moderate degree of chemical resistance. This feature comes in handy in case this elastomer is being used in a laboratory setting or other areas with the presence of chemicals. Some examples of the chemicals that this low durometer silicone can endure are solutions of ammonia gas, acetic acid, vinegar, sodium sulfate, and more.
EPDM – Commercial Grade – 60A

Excellent Industrial Sheet Rubber: EPDM rubber has adequate elastic and pliable qualities. The material has a durometer of Shore 55-65A but on average, has a Shore 60A measurement. A Shore A scale measures the hardness of the rubber. For example, a soft pencil eraser has a durometer of Shore 20A. Although higher than an eraser, the durometer of EPDM still maintains a good amount of flexibility for all of your necessary projects. In addition, EPDM rubber has a minimum elongation of 300%.
Popular Gauges: Rubber-Cal understands that some gauges are in higher demand than others. Therefore, the most popular gauges can usually be found in stock, ready for customers. This includes a range of eight different gauges to choose from. Custom thickness and widths are available upon request, though non-standard sizes will have large minimum orders. Nitrile – Commercial Grade Black – 60A

Flexible Rubber: Our Buna-N sheet has a durometer rating of 55-65. It is a medium grade rating that means the elastomer features more flexibility and elasticity than 70 durometer rubbers. It is not the hardest rubber around, but it does have decent resistance to abrasions. However, its flexibility allows it to be better used as seals, gaskets, and bumpers for a large number of different commercial and industrial applications.
Blended Material: Our nitrile rubber is actually a blend that contains amounts of neoprene and styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) in addition to the nitrile. Thanks to the blended materials in this oil-resistant rubber, it brings a good level of all-round resistance to oils and chemicals, which only enhances the considerable strength of nitrile’s resistance to oil. The SBR rubber brings an added level of abrasion resistance and weathering resistance.

This hard silicone rubber’s durability can also be enhanced by the material’s thickness gauges, which come in options ranging from 1/16″ to 3/8″. Please keep in mind that this material is not recommended if you are looking for sheet rubber with good flexibility.
